LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Nonprofit Extends Thanks for Successful
Stalking Conference and Benefit Dinner

Feel Safe Again, Inc., a statewide grassroots non-profit organization for victims of stalking would like to take a moment to personally thank all of its board members, the speakers, clinicians, law enforcement officials, firefighters, advocates, victims, survivors, family and friends who attended our First Annual Stalking Conference and Fourth Annual Benefit Dinner on March 14, 2008, at the Devens Common Center in Devens, Mass.

We successfully accomplished our goal of educating others, creating public awareness and raising additional funds to help victims become survivors.  The conference was a very thorough training which included key individuals in the investigation of my sister’s murder on January 20, 2000, by a package bomb her stalker hand-delivered to her Everett, Mass. home.

Special thanks go to Ron Meehan from the Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association (MPIUA) for sponsoring our First Annual Stalking Conference.  Without your kindness and generosity we would not have been able to offer this potentially life-saving event.  Thank you for your willingness to help us educate others about this serious crime of fear.

We would like to thank our speakers, Senator Pamela P. Resor (Middlesex/Worcester), Massachusetts State Troopers Timothy Murray, William P. Qualls and Eric Gahagan, Kerra Noyes from the Commonwealth Fusion Center, John Drugan a state crime lab chemist, Joe Richardson from the Massachusetts Coalition of Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention Programs, and Sandy Bromley, JD from the National Center for Victims of Crime - Stalking Resource Center.

As well as, Dr. Debra A. Pinals, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and author of “Stalked: Psychiatric Perspectives and Practical Approaches”, Lyn Bates, stalking expert, co-founder of AWARE and author of "Safety for Stalking Victims" and Detective Mike Proctor, stalking expert, criminal consultant and author of “How to Stop a Stalker” for supporting our efforts.

We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to all of our family, friends, and the businesses who donated items to our silent auction and raffle.  Special thanks go to the Devens Common Center and SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Devens, Mass., for donating a gift certificate and hosting our event this year.  We received outstanding service.

Additional thanks go to AWARE of Bedford, for donating a self-defense gift certificate, the Boston Red Sox for donating an autographed baseball, Stop and Shop for donating a gift card, Pretty Petals of Derry, NH for donating a silk floral arrangement, Brooklyn Bagel also of Derry, NH for donating gift baskets, and to stalking experts and authors, Detective Mike Proctor, Lyn Bates and Tino Struckmann for offering autographed copies of their book.  Thanks also go to special invited guest Don Massey, co-author of “A Matter of Degree” for his interest in our stalking conference and my sister’s story.  Thank you again to all who supported our cause.

All funds raised will be used to continue providing direct services to victims of stalking.  If you would like additional information regarding our services, call (888) 99B-SAFE or email info@feelsafeagain.org.
